Description
Lands long-time Seek AI leader.
Summary
The appointment of Thyago Liberalli as REA Group’s first Chief AI Officer signals a strategic shift towards scaling AI-driven products within the Australian proptech sector. While the role focuses primarily on commercial applications and operational efficiency, it reflects the growing trend of institutionalising AI oversight at the executive level. The move highlights the transition from experimental AI use cases to integrated, large-scale systems, which carries implications for data governance and the implementation of internal safety guardrails in a domestic corporate context. However, the article does not directly address frontier model capabilities or existential risks.
