Summary

This formal petition to the Australian House of Representatives advocates for a total ban on AI-driven automated decision-making in critical public and private sectors, including government agencies, healthcare, and banking. The petitioners argue that removing human intervention from sensitive choices regarding NDIS, Centrelink, and medical services constitutes a breach of human rights and introduces severe privacy risks. While primarily focused on socio-economic harms and administrative bias, the document reflects growing public concern regarding the delegation of agency to non-human entities and the need for stringent governance frameworks to prevent systemic failure in essential services.

Body

Artificial Intelligence AI might be able to make decisive choices, decisions & termination of services, charges. Without any human intervention. This is automated, decisive AI in government positions, Medical, NDIS, Centrelink, TAO. We no longer want "AI" to have that power, to make "human" based decisions or choices, in these fields. As it is a breach of basic human rights, with questionable privacy risks & human ethics. If we continue down this slippery slope. Millions of Australians will lose jobs, income & disability support, and be put "at risk" with no human intervention at all. We need to put a stop to the slop! AI is not the choice to use, in these fields. AI is not able to make decisions on behalf of humans. AI can be 100% bias, with no basic emotions or empathy. AI can be highly exploitable, putting everyone at risk. It is not a living being, it is a machine. You wouldn't put a cash register in charge of your business? So why would you let a machine, control these types of important human decisions? We therefore ask the House to make AI illegal to use in the following: government ran positions, any government agency, taxation offices, disability support services (NDIS), social security services (Centrelink, Medicare, TAO), medical practices, dental practices, eye care, banking, financial services, housing, insurance & healthcare. Any business or government organisation, that upholds a large majority of Australian health, mental wellbeing, financial support, finance, housing. Should NOT be allowed to use AI. Especially to make choices, for any reason whatsoever. from 21 citizens (Petition No. EN9897)
