Body
Artificial Intelligence
- AI is already being used across songwriting, vocals, and production, often without clear disclosure
-There is currently no consistent or standardised way to label AI involvement in music
- Listeners are often unaware when AI has played a significant role in what they are hearing
- Artists face increasing risk of having their voice, style, or creative identity replicated without consent
- The lack of transparency undermines trust in authorship and creative credit across the industry
We therefore ask the House to implement:
- Mandatory labelling of AI use in music releases
Any use of AI in vocals, lyrics, composition, or production should be clearly disclosed.
- Standardised definitions across the industry
Clear distinctions between "AI-generated" and "AI-assisted" so the terminology actually means something consistent.
- Visible disclosure on all platforms
Streaming services and distributors should include clear, upfront labelling—not hidden in credits or fine print.
- Stronger artist protections
Safeguards to prevent the use of an artist's voice, likeness, or stylistic identity without consent.
- Ongoing review of standards
As AI develops, these rules should be updated to stay relevant and enforceable.
