Summary

This formal parliamentary motion details the procedural amendment to the resolution of appointment for the Australian Joint Select Committee on Artificial Intelligence. The amendment allows for the inclusion of participating members from minority groups and independents, ensuring broader representation in legislative deliberations regarding AI. While the document is procedural, it facilitates the governance framework through which Australia will evaluate AI risks, including safety and ethical implications of frontier models. This committee represents a significant step in the Australian government's formal inquiry into the regulation and oversight of artificial intelligence.
