Summary
Senator Lambie has introduced a notice of motion calling for urgent legislative action to address the growing risks of AI-generated deepfakes, voice cloning, and disinformation. The motion highlights the threat these technologies pose to electoral integrity, democratic accountability, and public trust, specifically targeting malicious use in political advertising and scams. This development represents a formal parliamentary push to strengthen Australia's regulatory framework against AI-enabled harms, connecting frontier AI capabilities to national security and democratic stability.
