Insta360, a company famous for imaging technology, has just launched two new AI-powered 4K webcams which offer not only great video but also really good sound. The Insta360 Link 2 Pro and Link 2C Pro are designed for professionals who do a lot of presentations, educators, streamers and content creators who want their own virtual cameraman. We’ve been testing out the Link 2 Pro for a couple of weeks now and have been impressed by the amount of thought that has obviously gone into the product. Super compact, it can clip onto the top of your laptop or desktop monitor and just plugs in with a long USB C cable. You then download the software which allows you to really fine tune your appearance on screen.Insta360 Link 2 Pro webcam is great for presentations with quality video and audio which can be adjusted based on your setting and where you are.You can adjust the zoom, use existing provided backgrounds, add a bokeh effect, and then fine tune everything from your own facial features to overall lighting.Filter options include portrait, daylight, vintage and neon while there are makeup options including blush, fresh and rose, as well as adjustments for saturation and sharpness which can be great if you’ve had too much sun!Insta360 Link 2 Pro webcam includes plenty of options to change your look on screen. Both models feature a larger 1/1.3 sensor with dual native ISO for improved lighting and more natural exposure across changing lighting conditions. In our testing the camera worked well whether adjusting to light streaming from a window or working when there was minimal light. The audio is particularly well designed with a directional pick up system using beamforming and AI noise cancelling to ensure voices are heard even in challenging environments like coffee shops or airports.Insta360 Link 2 Pro webcam features a natural bokeh effect to put the focus on the speaker.Insta360 says the product was designed in response to an increase in both hybrid work and content streaming.“Our latest webcams offer creators and professionals a major step forward in clarity, audio precision, and control, all without complicating the workflow,” said Max Richter, VP of Marketing and Co-Founder at Insta360. “We wanted to build a webcam that feels effortless but performs at a level serious users can trust every day.”Both of the webcams support up to 4K at 30 frames per second.Even at 1080P, my webcam looked considerably clearer than those of my colleagues.Insta360 Link 2 Pro webcam has a variety of audio options including standard for everyday use with more subtle noise control, original for natural sound, wide for capturing multiple speakers and focus for isolating a single voice in busy or noisy spaces. There’s also an upgraded focus system which ensure clarity, even during movement or demonstrations. Unlike standard webcams that are built into your computer, the natural bokeh effect replicates the depth of field that gives a more professional look, similar to that of a DSLR camera.I recently used it to record a company video with a custom background, and it looked pretty good for someone with a face for radio.Insta360 Link 2 Pro webcam has a range of backgrounds and settings you can easily change from the desktop or via your mobile. The Link 2 Pro model has the added benefit of a 2-axis gimbal which offers natural AI tracking with either single or group-mode framing. It would be ideal for teachers, businesspeople doing presentations, fitness coaches or even those doing a cooking demonstration for followers. The camera does a pretty good job of tracking you as you move around, but in our testing, it struggled to keep up with very quick movements, as you would expect. The Insta360 Link 2C Pro is a compact, static design which is meant mainly for conference calls, streaming and fixed positions. It uses AI for auto framing and includes decent audio tools. The audio options are well designed for multiple uses. There’s a standard option for everyday use with more subtle noise control, original for natural sound, wide for capturing multiple speakers and focus for isolating a single voice in busy or noisy spaces. The focus option works particularly well in isolating your voice, as long as the camera is turned towards you.As well as on screen controls you can also control the webcam via your phone while content creators wanting more advanced controls can use the Elgato Stream Deck, which allows you to operate multiple cameras at once, adjust exposure, white balance, brightness and trigger AI-powered modes. With a couple of cameras, and the stream deck, you can easily imagine producing professional looking podcast or video content without having so many people involved.Insta360 Link 2 Pro webcam features tracking to keep the focus on those presenting. If you work from home, and you want to set ‘off limit’ areas you can also do that by defining the tracking area. There are also good privacy features built in, including the camera returning to the downward position when you have turned it off.The gimbal-based tracking offers head, half-body and full-body options allowing for those presenting while standing up or sitting down. For presenters, there’s a smart whiteboard mode which detects your whiteboard and frames it better.Deskview Mode captures an overhead view of your desk if you want to show someone a picture, artwork, sketch, or a product. There are also gesture controls for starting or stopping tracking, zooming in and out and activating the whiteboard mode.Insta360 Link 2 Pro webcam is aimed at content creators. You can also save preferred camera angles, AI configurations and settings using scene presets, which hopefully might avoid those awkward crotch or stomach shots. For content creators with a green screen, there’s a mode to deliver cleaner chroma keying with more accurate edges. You can also switch the camera to vertical to create content for Instagram, Tiktok as well as reels for Facebook or shorts for YouTube. The cameras also support recording of meetings, including generating transcripts and AI-powered summaries via Insta360 InSight from the Link Controller software. The summaries include key visual moments with notes synched to the cloud.Insta360 Link 2 Pro and Link 2C Pro are priced at $439.99 and $349.99, respectively.More related storiesMobile PhonesApple’s bad news for iPhone fansFresh information has been leaked about the iPhone 18, and it’s not good news for fans.Read moreGadgets‘Extremely dangerous’ device still promotedExperts have issued an urgent warning about an online promotion that breaches advertising standards—and remains active.Read moreGadgetsApple’s new device a ‘game changer’The tech giant has just released an updated version of its popular AirTags, and there are a host of tweaks you never knew you needed.Read more
