FortifAI Takes AI Platform to Megaport

The Australian

ENRICHED

Description

Special Report: FortifAI has collaborated with Megaport to bring its Nol8 AI Data Plane to the Megaport AI Exchange, enabling select customers to begin proof-of-concept deployments.

Summary

This article highlights an Australian-led technological advancement in AI infrastructure through the integration of FortifAI's Nol8 data plane into Megaport's network. The technology aims to optimize frontier AI performance by bypassing CPU bottlenecks to feed data to GPUs at 'wire speed' while embedding inline governance and policy controls. While focused primarily on GPU economics and commercial efficiency, the inclusion of automated data governance layers is relevant to the technical enforcement of safety guardrails in high-performance AI environments. However, the content primarily addresses enterprise scalability rather than catastrophic risk reduction or existential safety frameworks.

Body

Nol8 joins the Megaport AI Exchange Customer proof-of-concept trials underway Commercial launch targeted later this year Special Report: FortifAI has collaborated with Megaport to bring its Nol8 AI Data Plane to the Megaport AI Exchange, enabling select customers to begin proof-of-concept deployments. The company has integrated Nol8 with Megaport’s compute, network and storage services on the AI Exchange and has listed it on the Megaport Marketplace, which spans a software-defined network of more than 1,100 data centres.FortifAI (ASX:FTI) said Nol8 is designed to solve a bottleneck between storage and GPUs, where existing CPU-based systems struggle to feed data quickly enough for modern AI workloads. This is due to the layer between storage and the GPU relying on CPU arrays and middleware built for human-pace data movement. The company said Nol8 is designed to replace that layer with an accelerated data plane that feeds GPUs at wire speed while applying governance and policy controls before data reaches AI models."Megaport connects the world's infrastructure. Nol8 is building the data plane that will feed every GPU on it at wire speed, the layer the industry has been missing as AI workloads outpace the infrastructure built to serve them,” Nol8 chief executive officer Kelly Herrell said.“The Megaport AI Exchange gives us the fastest path to bring that to customers, ahead of general availability later this year."Megaport chief executive officer Michael Reid said collaborating with Nol8 adds an important new layer that ensures GPUs are supplied with clean, governed data to the existing compute, network and storage layers that AI on its infrastructure run on.Customer trials beginThe proof-of-concept program will assess the AI Data Plane's impact on GPU performance and economics, including GPU utilisation, throughput, time-to-first-token and revenue per GPU hour.Initial use cases include agent-to-agent commerce, pre-inference data preparation, post-inference governance and inline data governance.FTI said the proof-of-concept program is intended to demonstrate the value of the AI Data Plane ahead of commercial launch.General availability is planned for later this year as the company advances the product roadmap outlined in February 2026.This article was developed in collaboration with FortifAI, a Stockhead advertiser at the time of publishing.
