Summary
This draft policy outlines local government safety and ethics frameworks for the implementation of AI within the Georges River Council jurisdiction in New South Wales. It adopts a risk-based approach aligned with the NSW Government AI Assessment Framework, focusing on transparency through a public AI Register and human oversight of automated decisions. While the policy primarily addresses operational and privacy risks rather than existential threats, it demonstrates how regional governance is operationalising global AI ethics principles into local regulatory safeguards.
