Description

Australian singer Kate Ceberano said she “nearly threw up” after seeing an AI-generated image of her and late actor Sam Neil.

Summary

This article highlights the increasing prevalence of deceptive AI-generated misinformation and 'deepfake' imagery targeting public figures on social media platforms. It illustrates the psychological and ethical impacts of unauthorized AI persona usage through Kate Ceberano's reaction to fabricated mourning imagery. While the content focuses on societal harms and misinformation rather than direct existential risk, it underscores the systemic failure of platform moderation to identify non-consensual synthetic media. This trend is highly relevant to Australian AI policy discussions regarding the regulation of generative AI and the mitigation of technology-enabled harassment and misinformation.
