The late-night host ridiculed the right’s ‘alternate reality’ where Christopher Nolan’s film is a flop and the Iran war is over
Summary
This article details late-night host Seth Meyers' critique of Elon Musk’s proposal to use the Grok AI tool to generate a 'historically accurate' alternative to Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. The coverage highlights the growing trend of utilizing frontier generative AI models to create full-length cinematic content as a response to perceived cultural biases in mainstream media. While it touches on the cultural application of AI, it does not address existential safety risks or technical governance frameworks, focusing instead on the intersection of AI capabilities and political discourse.

Are you also making a historically accurate version of The Santa Clause?”Meyers said the right were not to be trusted on film as “they also said the Iran war would be a huge success” yet it was “definitely not over” and was “spiralling further out of control” despite what they might claim. This week saw Trump asked by a journalist about Iran showing no signs that they are willing to stop fighting and he responded by asking if she knew something he didn’t.“I don’t think he’s being sarcastic, I think he’s genuinely asking,” he said. Many of them “declared premature victory” but it’s “only getting worse”, something that was raised by the Democratic senator Jon Ossoff this week. He asked the Pentagon chief, Pete Hegseth, why he would say on day 14 of the war that Iran’s military had been destroyed when that’s clearly not the case.Hegseth avoided answering yet Ossoff kept repeating the question “like the fucking Terminator”.This angered Trump who used a “very, very weird line of attack” at a rally in calling Ossoff Pinky Herman. “Do you mean Peewee Herman?” Meyers said, before saying that the inside of Trump’s brain “looks like Peewee’s Playhouse”.He finished by saying the right “live in a bubble” and “an alternate reality”.Explore more on these topicsLate-night TV roundupUS televisionSeth MeyersThe OdysseyTV comedyComedyTelevisionfeaturesShareReuse this content
